MRS. MEHRING’S UPDATE: Mrs. Mehring returned to her doctor on Thursday, February 25th for an evaluation of her healing process. Overall, Mrs. Mehring has made a tremendous recovery on most of her injuries. However, Mrs. Mehring is still having difficulty walking because of her ankle injuries and her doctor will not allow her to return to her teaching duties this school year. Mrs. Mehring is deeply saddened and wishes she could return. Continue to keep Mrs. Mehring in your prayers! Fortunately, Mrs. Mary Potter has agreed to stay for the rest of the 2009-2010 school year as Mrs. Mehring’s replacement. We have been truly blessed to have Mrs. Potter step forward and assume all of Mrs. Mehring’s duties. Thank you so very much, Mrs. Potter.
WE HAVE NOT HEARD? There are still a few families we have not heard from concerning student enrollment for next school year. Please let us know as soon as possible whether your child(ren) will be returning next year or not. Open enrollment for all grades began on Monday, March 1st. Your cooperation in this matter is greatly appreciated.
PANCAKE BREAKFAST: The 8th grade pancake breakfast is this Sunday, March 7th after all morning liturgies (8:00am to 1:00pm) in the social hall. Tickets are $5.00 per person or $15.00 per family and can be obtained in the school office or at the door. Help the 8th graders get to New York City!
DIOCESAN GRANTS: If you are interested in applying for tuition assistance from the Diocese of Raleigh, do not procrastinate. The deadline for applying on-line is Friday, March 12, 2010. The school also uses this application process for providing tuition assistance from the school.
FYI: There are still openings for the St. Patrick’s Day 5K run/walk to be held on Saturday, March 13th starting at 8:30am. Entries are available on-line via active.com. If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Laura Yarborough at ryarborough2@nc.rr.com.
GET INVOLVED: There are openings on both the School Advisory Committee (SAC) and Parent Volunteer Organization (PVO). If you are interested, please submit a short letter of intent to the school and indicate on which organization you wish to serve. This is a golden opportunity to get involved and help your children and the school.
“WE THINK GREEN” CONTEST BY HARRIS TEETER: Our school will be participating in this contest sponsored by Harris Teeter. We need you to bring in your plastic shopping bags from any retailer to the school. There will be a bin in the foyer where you can place them. We will start collecting bags on Monday, March 8th and will continue to do so until April 12th. The more bags we collect during this time, the better chance we have of winning the $1,000 prize money for the school.
ST. PATRICK’S DAY CELEBRATIONS: On Wednesday, March 17th, the school will pray the rosary at 1:15pm. After the rosary (at 2:00pm) the school children will celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with classroom parties. Due to the time of day, the parties will be limited to very simple affairs. Most of the room parents have already contacted the classroom parents for assistance. The students will have a free dress day and be allowed to wear green clothing to celebrate the occasion.
