Community Outreach Efforts
Community Outreach Projects for the 2011-2012 school year
The students of St. Patrick Catholic School know what community and service mean. They show this throughout the school year with their outreach projects. Such as:
- The 4th grade traveled to a local farm to glean sweet potatoes for the Catholic Charities food pantry.
- In rememberance of 9/11, each class chose a “first responders” group to sponsor. Fire fighters, EMTS, National Guard unit, 911 dispatchers,Hospital Emergency Room staff, etc, received baskets of goodies and thank you letters from the students.
- At Thanksgiving, the school donated hundreds of pounds of food for local needy families
- The school families donated Christmas gifts to the families of our sister parish, St. Joan of Arc, in Plymouth, NC
- 7th graders raised money for St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital with a bake sale. ($320)
- 8th graders made gift bags for the hospitalized children at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center. (50 bags)
- At Christmas, the students collected toys and necessities for children in need at our sister parish, St. Joan of Arc in Plymouth, NC
- During Catholic Schools Week, we collected baby items and blankets for our local Catholic Charities.
- For the Lenten Season our students and families will be perfoming “random acts of kindness”.
